Madina Market Women Laud MP Sosu as the Best Representative for Madina Constituency

Date: January 2, 2024

In a resounding show of support, the women of Madina Market have hailed Hon. Francis-Xavier Sosu as the best Member of Parliament (MP) for Madina Constituency to date.

The bustling market, which originated as a small trading hub near the Atima community, has grown into a thriving commercial center, serving numerous suburbs in Ga East and West.

Recognizing the significant role the market plays in the economic development of the constituency, MP Sosu has consistently emphasized its importance.

During his campaign visits in 2020, he acknowledged Madina Market as a vital pillar of the community. Since his election, he has made numerous visits to the market, engaging with its business community and constituents.

One notable occasion was his post-election thanksgiving visit, where he expressed gratitude to all those who supported his candidacy.

Additionally, through his health outreach initiative, SOSU HEALTH OUTREACH, the MP has organized free Breast Cancer Screening exercises for two consecutive years, benefitting over 1,500 market women.

Despite being in opposition, MP Sosu has demonstrated resourcefulness in implementing community development projects, often through effective partnerships in line with Sustainable Development Goal 17.

Auntie Adiza Mohammed, a seasoned businesswoman in the Madina Market for over a decade, expressed her admiration for MP Sosu, saying, "In all my years here, I have not seen an MP who loves his people like Sosu! As for me and my fellow women, we will continue to support him, and we believe that, God willing, when Mahama comes, together they will transform the face of Madina!"

Further discussions with other market women revealed their high awareness of MP Sosu's Private Member Bills.

They specifically praised him for his efforts to reduce taxes on sanitary pads, a bill that garnered widespread acclaim.

However, the women also requested more promotion of these bills in local languages, aiming to educate a larger number of marketgoers.
