"Let's not crucify the President but commend him" - AAGA Reacts to Nana Addo's Cape Coast harbour apology

A group calling itself Akufo-Addo Government Advocate (AAGA) has reacted to President Nana Akufo-Addo’s apology to indigenes of Cape Coast after claiming he never promised to build a harbour in the town in the run-up to the 2020 elections.

According to the group, the President’s come back apology signifies his good leadership skill.

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo last week apologized to the people of Cape Coast for saying he never promised a harbour in the Central Regional capital.

Some residents of Cape Coast waiting on the government for the construction of a new harbour because the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) promised to establish such a facility in the area during the run-up to the 2020 general elections, but their hopes were almost dashed after President Akufo-Addo in a recent interview Cape Coast-based Eagle FM said his party never made such a promise.

The comment by the President during his tour of the Central Region generated controversy, as videos of the Vice President reiterating the promise from the NPP manifesto resurfaced on social media.

But in an interview on Peace FM President Akufo-Addo said his earlier comments about the Cape Coast harbour was a mistake.

He said his government is already working on a harbour at Elmina, and having one at Cape Coast as well.

Reacting to this actions, Chairman for the Central Regional Chapter of AAGA, Dr. Michael Kojo Kyeremateng believes, the President made such comments, because he did not turn to the page of the Manifesto which captured the Cape Coast harbour project.

Dr. Kyeremateng, disclose that, as the Tama Harbour now have three(3) different ports; Tema fishing Harbour and the Main Harbour which was built by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and the recently Meridian Port Services MPS is serving a good purpose for the country, the NPP Government is ready to initiate such for the country, precisely at Cape Coast, and therefore the Residents should come down.

"This clearly Shows the Value for Money in that Particular area, and I think Cape Coast can also have the same even though we have a mini fishing local port in Elmina" he added.

Dr. Kyeremateng said, clarifying President’s word's of apologies and admittance to the mistake made about Cape Coast Harbour construction should not be treated only the surface but should commend him for showing what a GOOD LEADER SHOULD DO.
