Use your second term to leave behind a positive Legacy – ILAPI Ghana advises seat of Presidency

 A Policy THINK TANK, Institute for Liberty and Policy Innovation (ILAPI) has urged the seat of Presidency led by H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo to use this second term in government to leave behind a legacy that will speak well on them before their term is over.

President of ILAPI Ghana, Peter Bismarck Kwoffie speaking to Angel News’ Nana Gyenin indicated that, though the president under his first four years instituted a lot of policies but should better up in his second term policies that will create employment, businesses, addressing public finance in the country by a means of scrapping more of his ministers.

“The government must redefine its governance, economic and social structures to trigger system change for posterity and opportunities for all”

“The second term of Nana Akuffo Addo should leave behind a legacy and system that rewards efforts. As citizens not spectators, we are proposing five (five) ways to make his reign the best to keep everyone motion” he added.

Peter Kwoffie in his advice suggested five ways government can add to his budgetary policies; Globalisation and sustainable Public Finance, fiscal Information for the public consumption, constitute the right size of government, Doing business in Ghana and the fighting against corruption should be the considered some key focuses for the government.

According to him the coronavirus pandemic really hit hard on the economy which affected almost businesses in the country and therefore to wake up the economy back to its normal stage, the government should consider adding these strategies in his forms of policies.

“ the new health risk such as covid-19 pandemic has distorted economic activities and put pressure on government financing activities. These risks are enough to guide the government to deduce orderly methods for managing public finance due to budget deficit. Therefore the government should expand the economy to by creating more opportunities for jobs and infrastructure development.” Mr. Kwoffie said.

On the side of Corruption, Mr. Kwoffie indicated that, the shortcoming of every government is the partisan means of fighting corruption, therefore if the government changes this means, a lot of businesses will wake up to get more ownership system in business in the country.

“The incidents of corruption is a curse on every country, therefore to improve in the fighting against this menace, the government should make corruption investigation reports public in order to improve transparency in the corruption fight. Appointees of the President must be allowed to face the law and not only the usual status quo of sacking” he advised.
