IMF Bailout: Gov't can't be blamed - NPP Group

The NPP National Advocacy Association Of Ghana says the Government cannot be blamed for its decision to engage the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for a bailout. The Association said the move had become necessarily in the wake of the seeming global economic crisis that had reversed the positive gains recorded by the Akufo-Addo Government in recent years. In a statement signed by the Association’s National Secretary, Dr Michael Kojo Kyeremateng, it accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of “frustrating” the passage of the E-Levy, which was intended to shore up Government’s revenue in a bid to revive the economy.  The National Advocacy Association under the auspices of the New Patriotic Party has wave back at the National Democratic Congress over their heavy critics against the government decision to seek support from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). According to the group, the present government requesting IMF support is different from the last NDC administration. The group added that the Akufo-Addo's Government is seeking IMF support under the unfortunate circumstances of global economic crisis, and the quest to maintain the implementation of its flagship policies and programmes especially Free SHS/TVET, YouStart Policy, Infrastructure projects etc unlike the NDC who went to the IMF for mismanaging the economy.
